Help my Icemaker is Leaking!

During the life of an ice maker the ice cube bin can absorb odors from your freezer. Baking Soda does work well - but eventually it may lose it's effectiveness  It is best to replace the bin every 2 to 3 years.  (Or whenever it seems to be retaining odors and making your ice cubes stink)  

Ice Maker Water filter replacement should take place twice a year if possible - no matter what brand you use. 

Icemaker Solenoid or Icemaker Water Valve- Before replacing - make sure that the Solenoid Valve is working!

1. Check the water supply line (make sure that you are getting the proper water pressure to the water solenoid valve). There should be at least a full 1/4" non-restricted flow at the water supply valve! 

2. If the water inlet tube is frozen over with ice (not letting water pass into the ice maker), this is a sign of a leaking water valve. The water Solenoid Valve should be replaced. 

Empty out the ice and wash the ice bin every 2 to 3 months - this will make sure that there are not super old ice cubes on the bottom. Keep foods in your freezer and refrigerator covered to minimize stinky ice cubes.
